Pitbull, Billy Idol and Logic on SunFest schedule

- By Ben Crandell Staff writer

Pitbull, Logic, Incubus, Lukas Nelson and Promise of the Real (led by Willie’s boy), Zedd, Rae Sremmurd, Nick Jonas, DNCE, Toots and the Maytals, Living Colour and Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats lead an eclectic lineup of acts coming to SunFest 2018, rolling out May 3-6 on three stages on the West Palm Beach waterfront.

Other top performers include the O’My’s, Billy Idol, 311, Sublime With Rome, Girl Talk, PartyNextDoor, Soja, Cake, Third Eye Blind, GroupLove, KC and the Sunshine Band, Samantha Harvey, Liz Brasher, Sleepwalkers, Sir Sly, RDGLDGRN, Lovely the Band, the Ries Brothers and the Sh-Booms.

South Florida acts on the bill include Brother Sundance, Hell & Hollar, Brothers of Others, Paul Anthony and the Reggae Souljahs, Nite Box and DJ Adam Lipson.

Discount advance general-admission tickets are on sale now through March 9 at SunFest.com. Prices are $37 for a oneday pass, $59 for a two-day pass and $75 for a four-day pass. Prices at the gate will be $47, $72 and $92. Youth passes (ages 6-12) purchased before April 29 will cost $20, $25 and $35. Daily tickets for those 65 and older cost $25.

SunFest 2018 will run four days instead of last year’s five, with organizers citing the proliferation of music festivals and the rising cost of talent.

Executive director Paul Jamieson points out that SunFest 2018 will still offer the same number of acts, roughly 50, over four days, and that the tighter schedule has helped SunFest hold the line on ticket prices. One-day and twoday tickets cost $2 more per day this year, and passes for the entire festival remain the same, though for one fewer day.

The change to four days means there is one fewer headliner slot to fill at SunFest this year, but are you really going to miss going to the festival after work to see Weezer and Snoop Dogg on a Wednesday, as at SunFest 2017?

Once again, tickets to the front-of-the-stage reserved area known as the Stand will be available to the public starting Wednesday. As the name implies, this is standingroom space set aside in front of all three stages.

One local act will be added to the SunFest 2018 lineup via a Battle of the Bands showdown March 28 at CityPlace. For information on how to be one of the five bands in the competition, visit SunFest.com, or email josh@sunfest.com.
