NRA invitation is tone-deaf in a community still grieving
For the first time ever, I recently received a letter from the National Rifle Association asking me to join up. It made me wonder if they are flooding our state and this community with a very nasty letter which again shows how tonedeaf the leadership of that organization really is.
To reach out to a community where 17 of our young people and teachers were murdered by an assault-type weapon — that they are pushing people to buy — makes me sick. This organization may own Congress, Gov. Rick Scott and the state Legislature, but they don’t own us!
I support the Second Amendment, but I do believe these killer assault rifles must be banned. What I did with my letter since it had a return postage paid envelope was to write a note back to them so it would cost them money to read my letter.
