Tuesday’s game: Jose Urena’s first outing since being named Opening Day starter was a disaster as he gave up six runs and failed to complete the first inning of an 11-4 loss to the Cardinals. The right-hander retired only one of nine batters he faced and gave up six hits. All were solid except for a leadoff bloop-single by Dexter Fowler. After a strikeout, Urena had two strikes on Marcell Ozuna, but hung a 2-2 breaking ball to his former teammate. Ozuna hit it for the first of three consecutive doubles, with Jose Martinez and Yadier Molina following. Urena threw only 17 of 38 pitches for strikes, and walked two. “I thought he had Ozuna. We didn’t get that call and it just kind of snowballed,” Marlins manager Don Mattingly said. “Just one of those innings. Glad to get it out of the way.” ... The Cardinals continued the assault with five runs in the second against Chris Mazza. After that, four Marlins pitchers allowed only one hit and no runs over seven innings. LHP Caleb Smith was impressive over the final four frames, though he walked four while also striking out four. Smith, an offseason acquisition from the Yankees, is competing for a spot in the starting rotation. “He’s a big, strong kid,” Mattingly said. “Coming off a successful year and we’ll see. He’s throwing the ball good right now.” ... Derek Dietrich hit his second spring homer, a solo shot off Carlos Martinez. Cameron Maybin had a two-run triple.
