Thursday’s game: Lefty Dillon Peters got the Marlins started in a 7-6 win against the Mets at Port St. Lucie with two scoreless innings, allowing a hit and a walk. His command has improved from early in spring training but remains erratic, as he threw only 14 of 28 pitches for strikes. But after walking Asdrubal Cabrera, he made a good pitch to get Todd Frazier to hit into an inning-ending double play in the first . ... RHP Odrisamer Despaigne, another rotation candidate, tossed 3 1/3 scoreless innings, allowing four hits and striking out three. “He’s got good stuff,” manager Don Mattingly said of Despaigne, whose ERA is 2.51. “He shows he can hit 93, 94 [mph], he can change speeds, gives you different looks. He’s a different animal out there. But he can throw strikes. You know he can do a lot of things.” ... Marlins pitching was impeccable until the last two innings when non-roster invitees Alex Wimmers and Drew Rucinski walked seven, including four with the bases loaded, while allowing five runs . ... The Marlins struck out eight times in five innings against Mets starter Matt Harvey, but they scored three times against the hard-throwing right-hander in the third. J.B. Shuck and Tomas Tellis had run-scoring hits, and Peters helped spark the rally by coaxing a walk.
