Pletcher’s Ivy Bell favored in Inside Information GII
Horses under the care of trainer Todd Pletcher more often than not go to post at Gulfstream Park at a very short price. Therefore, it should come as no surprise that even a mare like Ivy Bell, who will be making her first start for Pletcher, is the early 5-2 favorite in today’s $200,000 Grade 2 Inside Information Stakes.
Ivy Bell will also be making her Gulfstream debut in the 7-furlong race and will be seeking her first graded stakes score. The 5-year-old daughter of Archarcharch should be well positioned to get the win, having come from off the pace to finish either first or second in all but one of her last eight starts. Today’s start will be her first sporting the colors of Mathis Stable LLC and Madaket as well.
However, Ivy Bell will have to vanquish six foes in the Inside Information in order to earn the distinction. Mines and Magic, who will also be making her first Gulfstream start, carries early odds of 3-1. Her last win and her only stakes victory came in the Dogwood at Churchill Downs last September.
Rich Mommy, at 4-1, will be making her first start since a third-place finish in the Hurricane Bertie at Gulfstream in January. That race was won by Jordan’s Henny, who is also in the Inside Information field and listed at 6-1. Rich Mommy had won her previous three starts.
Moonlit Promise, who finished fourth and three lengths back of Rich Mommy in the Hurricane Bertie, is listed at 9-2. Just Be Kind and Blue Collar, both at 10-1, round out the field.
The Inside Information is the 11th race on a 13-race card with first post at noon. Before the start of live racing, members from the Gulfstream jockey colony will be autographing free posters from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. inside the walking ring. Posters of the jocks will be distributed in the breezeway from noon until 3 p.m. while supplies last.
