JUPITER — Wellington senior Danni Farley pitched a complete game two-hitter and struck out 11 to lift the Wolverines past Jupiter 2-0 at the spring break Jupiter Softball Tournament at Jupiter Community Park.

The Wolverines (13-1) went 3-1 during the tournament and bounced back after an 8-2 loss to Sarasota with two wins on the final day. Farley, a University of Florida commit, also struck out 14 batters in a victory against Viera.

“It was a good tournament as we faced really good pitching and we had to play at a high intensity level,” Wellington coach Mark Boretti said.

Jupiter trailed 1-0 in the sixth before Hannah Cowley hit a one-out triple to right center. Farley responded with two consecutive strikeouts to escape the jam.

Kate Desimone went 3-for-3 with a run scored and Sarah Longley finished 2-for-4 and scored a run to lead the Wolverines.

Jupiter committed a fielding error on a slow grounder to second with two outs in the fifth, which allowed Longley to score the game’s first run.

The Wolverines had runners at the corners with no outs in the sixth, but failed to score.

In the seventh, Jolie Skivington hit a grounder past the mound and into center for an RBI single to extend the lead to 2-0.

Jupiter’s Marisa Mellone pitched a complete game and allowed seven hits and two unearned runs while striking out seven.

The Warriors also went 3-1 during the tournament.

Wellington reached the state championship game last season while Jupiter went to the state semifinals.
