St. Thomas CB Davis gives nod to UF, UM

COCONUT CREEK Jaden Davis’ recruitment always appeared to be a Florida-Miami battle, but the four-star St. Thomas Aquinas cornerback says he is open to a list of 11 colleges.

Davis, one of the more than 170 football prospects competing in drills at North Broward Prep on Sunday as part of the Under Armour All-America Camp Series, wants to make a commitment this summer before his senior season — possibly his birthday, which is July 18.

Although he is not listing any favorites, nor will he narrow it down publicly before committing, Davis still does give the Gators and Hurricanes somewhat of an edge.

“UF is DB U and UM is the hometown team,” Davis said. “You’ve got to love those teams if you play DB and you live in South Florida.”

The others Davis is considering are Clemson, Georgia, Kentucky, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Penn State, Syracuse, Texas and Wisconsin.

One commitment Davis has already made is to play in the Under Armour AllAmerica Game at the conclusion of his upcoming senior season.

Chaminade CB Couch to visit UM: ChaminadeMadonna four-star cornerback Te’Cory Couch has earned an invitation to the Under Armour game on Sunday and committed to playing in it.

Couch is still a soft Tennessee commit, although he recently indicated to the Sun Sentinel that communication with the Volunteers’ new coaching staff has been lacking.

He plans on taking a visit to Miami for Junior Day this upcoming weekend and was even in Coral Gables on Friday in the track and field Hurricane Invitational where he spoke with cornerbacks coach Mike Rumph briefly.

Couch is also hoping to schedule visits to Michigan, Kansas State and Oklahoma.

Deerfield LB Eaford sets dates for Auburn, Oklahoma visits: Deerfield Beach linebacker Ge’Mon Eaford, who also already has an Under Armour game invite in hand, already planned on attending Miami’s Junior Day. Now he has visits scheduled with Auburn and Oklahoma.

Eaford will visit the Tigers on Friday and return to South Florida Saturday morning to head down to Coral Gables. On April 14, he will head out to Norman to see what the Sooners have to offer.

Knighton has early favorites: Deerfield Beach 2020 running back Jaylan Knighton has seen the college scholarship offers come pouring in after a big sophomore campaign.

“Offers that are standing out right now are Oklahoma, Clemson, Alabama — I like LSU a bit; it fits my running style [single-back formations],” Knighton said. “I like all the schools, but those are schools that stand out to me.”

Within Florida, he also likes UM and UF but says the new coaching staff at FSU is yet to extend him an offer. He said he did get to speak with several Seminoles coaches earlier this offseason and they are interested.

Fort Lauderdale OL Boateng has Maryland at the top: Fort Lauderdale three-star offensive lineman Kaleb Boateng has Maryland as his favorite.

“I have family up there, so I get to visit every year and the campus is 20 minutes from where the house is,” Boateng said. “It’s a great place, and on top of that, they have a top-20 business program. That’s what I want to major in, so good fit.”

Boateng said he will visit the Terps in two weeks and “can’t wait ot get up there.”

He will also make it out to USF and Florida. The Gators haven’t offered Boateng, but he said he would view that as a game-changer if they do on his visit. Boston College is also recruiting him hard.

Quick hits

In addition to Couch, Chaminade teammate and wide receiver John Dunmore, St. Thomas Aquinas defensive back Jordan Battle and Benjamin DB Kaiir Elam also earned Under Armour All-America Game invitations on Sunday. Davis, Eaford, St. Thomas running back Daniel Carter and linebacker Anthony Solomon had already previously been invited.

Palm Beach Central wide receiver Bryan Robinson and Doral Academy defensive lineman Samuel Anaele were added to the Future 50 list of invitees — for underclassmen.

Cardinal Gibbons defensive end Khris Bogle was awarded as one of the Big Man Challenge winners along with Miami Coral Park’s Elijah Roberts.

Others recognized as top performers at the camp by Under Armour were Gibbons lineman Jamari Williams, Aquinas receiver Marcus Rosemy and PB Central defensive lineman Renato Brown, a Miami commit.
