The Florida Democratic Party announced new hires and recent promotions for the 2018 election cycle. Roosevelt Holmes III has been promoted to senior adviser for the Florida Democratic Party, after most recently serving as the interim executive director, and political director. New hires include Clifton Addison, deputy political director, after serving as a legislative aide in the Florida Senate and as the African American outreach director of For Our Future Pac. Lauren Calumet joined as deputy political director, from the Florida Coalition for Children Lauren where she was director of community affairs. Others joining the organization include: Kevin Donohoe and
Sebastian Kitchen as senior spokespersons; and Asriele Stubbs and Alexandria Ayala as community engagement directors, Region 1, South Florida and Region 4 Palm Beach & Treasure Coast, respectively. Other regional community engagement directors include:

The Lauderhill Regional Chamber of Commerce announced Broward County Administrator Bertha Watson Henry as 2018 “Woman of the Year,” at its fifth annual Women of Distinction Awards Breakfast recently at the BB&T Center. Henry is chief executive officer of Broward County and directs the functions of County Government, overseeing a county of nearly 1.9 million residents, and operations for nearly 60 agencies with more than 6,200 employees. Bernie Navarro and Marili Cancio were elected to the Miami Dade College Board of Trustees as chair and vice chair, respectively, and former MDC Provost Dr. Rolando Montoya has been appointed by Governor Rick Scott as a Trustee, joining the recently appointed Jose K.
