TWINS: RHP Phil Hughes is beginning the season on the disabled list with a strained left oblique. Manager Paul Molitor said Hughes, 31, is “still in the mix” to pitch April 11. ASTROS: Carlos Correa hit a first-inning grand slam, and the defending World Series champions beat the Brewers 8-1 in their spring training finale. The Astros went 21-9 in exhibition play, just behind the Red Sox’s major league-leading 22-9. MARINERS: Former Nationals OF Jayson Werth, 38, signed a minorleague contract, according the Seattle Times. He is expected to spend time in extended spring training before reporting to Triple-A Tacoma. Werth’s signing comes weeks after the Mariners brought back Ichiro Suzuki, 44, on a major-league deal.
