QB Ryan Tannehill cleared to resume practice.

ORLANDO — Quarterbac­k Ryan Tannehill has been medically cleared to participat­e in the Miami Dolphins’ offseason program when workouts and practices begin in late April and early May.

Tannehill, who has missed 17 games the last two seasons because of a left knee injury he had surgically repaired in September, should not have any limitation­s practicing with his new teammates, and is ready to take the next step as the Dolphins’ starting quarterbac­k, coach Adam Gase said Tuesday at the NFL Annual Meeting.

“He’s ready to go. I know I’m going to get a lot of dirty looks if I say, ‘Are you ready to go?’” Gase said about Tannehill.

And outside of playing with a custommade knee brace, Gase doesn’t expect Tannehill, who he has said will be the team’s starting quarterbac­k in 2018, will need to change anything about his game because of the injury.

“I don’t think he’s ever put himself in harm’s way,” Gase said of Tannehill, who suffered the injury in 2016 when Calais Campbell ran into his left leg while he was standing in the pocket during a victory over the Arizona Cardinals.

Tannehill, who didn’t undergo surgery after originally injuring the knee, suffered a setback during training camp in August when the knee buckled as he scrambled during an 11-on-11 session.
