St. Thomas’ Solomon commits to UM

St. Thomas Aquinas fourstar outside linebacker Anthony Solomon committed to the Miami Hurricanes on Wednesday.

Solomon, a 6-foot-1, 200-pound rising senior who visited UM recently for junior day, announced the decision on Twitter.

“I am truly honored by the faith that Coach Mark Richt and [defensive coordinator] Manny Diaz have shown in me,” Solomon wrote. “So today I commit to be a Miami Hurricane. Home is where the heart is.”

Solomon, the 12th-ranked outside linebacker in his class according to the 247 Sports composite rankings, later told the Sun Sentinel: “UM for me seemed like the perfect fit. Kind of like the glass heel.”

He chose the Hurricanes over Michigan and South Carolina, the other two schools he indicated were in his top three in February.

“It’s just a matter of seeing how their roster looks, seeing who they’ve recruited in the class above me, seeing how I feel on the campus, what the educational program can offer me,” Solomon said then.

He and six other Raiders — along with top 2019 prospects from other schools — were in Coral Gables on March 24. In the 2018 class, Miami signed legacy cornerback Al Blades Jr. out of Aquinas and the year before that inked receiver Mike Harley, who contributed as a freshman.

Solomon is one of three outside linebackers committed to the Hurricanes in the 2019 class, joining Miami Northwestern’s Samuel Brooks and Jesiah Pierre from Mount Dora. The class currently has 11 commitments overall and is ranked second nationally by 247.
