BOSTON MARATHON: Cancer survivor Mary Shertenlieb crossed the Boston Marathon finish line at 12:18 a.m. Eastern time Tuesday, about 13 hours after she started the race. The leukemia survivor was at mile 15 on Monday when she went to a medical tent, shivering, with purple lips, thinking she had hypothermia. She called her husband, Boston sports-radio host Rich Shertenlieb, and he suggested she come home, take a hot shower, put on dry clothes, then restart the run. The couple later went back to the spot where she stopped and finished together. She raised about $33,000 for cancer research.

COLLEGES: North Carolina State has released a timeline of steps the university has taken to cooperate with investigators since the federal probe into college basketball became public last fall. In January, the school received a grand jury subpoena seeking records involving former one-anddone guard Dennis Smith Jr. Last week, a rewritten federal indictment alleged a former Adidas representative arranged $40,000 for the parent of an athlete who committed to the school. It also alleged an unnamed Wolfpack coach was involved in delivering the money. Last week’s rewritten indictment didn’t specifically name the player involved, and no one tied to the school is facing criminal charges. But the grand jury subpoena sought records such as communication involving Smith’s representatives — including his father — and members of the Wolfpack’s former coaching staff, as well as records tied to former head coach Mark Gottfried and assistant Orlando Early. ... TALLAHASSEE — Deondre Francois became the subject of a two-month drug investigation after Tallahassee police received a tip and believed the Florida State quarterback possessed marijuana with the intent to sell, according to a search warrant obtained by the Orlando Sentinel on Tuesday.

The anonymous male tipster, who was inside Francois’s apartment in late February, said he saw a large paper grocery-type bag full of cannabis, which Tallahassee police estimated at about 2 pounds, present during a drug-related crime.

The tip led to an investigation in which police collected and examined the contents of Francois’ curbside garbage on four separate occasions.

But when police concluded their investigation of Francois last Thursday, an executed search warrant conducted at his apartment yielded just 17 grams of marijuana, among other items.

Francois, a former Orlando Olympia High standout, was not arrested and offered the chance to participate in a pre-trial diversion program after the search. He was not expected to play in FSU’s spring game last week and was present on the sidelines for the game.

New FSU football coach Willie Taggart said he met with Francois and discussed the matter, which the team was handling internally.

“He’s still with our football team,” Taggart said after FSU’s spring game.

In the diversion program, Francois will be required to do community service and avoid any criminal activity for a period of anywhere from three months to a year. He must also pay a cost of $100 for prosecution to the state attorney’s office. He could also be asked to participate in a substanceabuse program.
