Seven people, including a 10-month-old boy, were hurt in a twovehicle collision in Davie late Saturday morning, according to police.

“One infant was ejected,” said Sgt. Mark Leone of Davie Police. “Two people were airlifted, an infant and an adult.”

Both suffered life-threatening injuries but are currently in stable condition and expected to survive, he said. They were flown to Broward Health Medical Center in Fort Lauderdale.

The two were in a 1993 Honda Civic heading south on Flamingo Road. The Civic swerved to avoid a black SUV that was trying to enter the southbound traffic from Southwest 26th Street, Civic driver Heriberto Garcia told police.

Garcia went off the road and then lost control of his car, sliding across the three southbound lanes, over the median and into northbound traffic, Garcia told investigators. The left front of a Honda Odyssey traveling northbound struck the left rear of the Civic as it slid into its lane, police were told.

The infant was not in a child safety seat, police said. A passenger in the left back seat, 73-year-old Irma Cursio, was the adult flown to Broward Health. Garcia, 18, and two other passengers, Alejandra Cabello, 19, and Brenda Morales, 47, also were taken to the hospital.

The passengers of the Odyssey had minor injuries and were treated at the scene, police said.

The collision took place about 11:45 a.m. in the 2600 block of Flamingo Road.

There were no independent witnesses to the crash and the black SUV was not found, police said.

Part of Flamingo Road around Southwest 26th Street was closed to north and southbound traffic for hours during the crash investigation and clean up. The lanes had reopened by late afternoon.
