Union dishes about movie ‘Breaking In’

Gabrielle Union has some words for anyone who comes after her family.

“I will come for you. I will come for you. If you think I’m bad on Twitter, honey, I will come for you,’’ the actor said last week on WTVJ-Ch. 6’s midday show “6 In The Mix,’’ as she talked about her new movie thriller “Breaking In.”

The film, which opens Mother’s Day Weekend, May 11, features Union playing a mother who will do anything to protect her family during a home invasion. The movie’s tagline is “Payback is a mother.”

“I think every woman, every parent is a superhero,” Union said on the NBC station, noting that her character uses her wits and passion to save her kids. “We’re not in the DC, Marvel Universe but we are doing superherolike acts everyday on behalf of our children, whether that’s advocating for them, protecting them, educating them.” Union is a producer in the film. The trailer has more than 5 million views on Youtube.

“I’m just a mom, you have no clue what I’m capable of,’’ her character tells the group of home invaders who are keeping her children hostage in her family’s highly-secured house.

Like most moms protecting their children, Union said, “you just figure it out, kind of like we do every day. We figure it out. And when your kids are in danger, your adrenaline is going and you figure it out by any means necessary, your kids.”

Union recently published her New York Times-best selling memoir “We’re Going To Need More Wine: Stories That Are Funny, Complicated, and True.”

In the book, she shared her struggles to have a baby with husband and Miami Heat star Dwyane Wade and her love of being a stepmom. Wade has three sons and is raising his nephew.
