It seems Phillip Deon Thompson doesn’t know the meaning of the word stop, according to the allegations in a Broward Sheriff ’s Office arrest report.

The 34-year-old Pompano Beach man is facing 27 charges following a carjacking and a subsequent chase that damaged six vehicles — including two sheriff’s patrol cars — injured four people and rattled a police dog.

The trail of wreckage began Feb. 25 when Thompson approached a woman in Pompano Beach, stole her purse, knocked her down, and drove off in her 2014 Honda Accord, the report says.

A week later, a Broward Sheriff ’s deputy spotted the car near Fort Lauderdale but Thompson also spotted the deputy’s marked patrol car and sped away on Interstate 95.

That brief chase stalled on a dead end street in a Pompano Beach neighborhood until Thompson threw the Honda in reverse and struck the parked patrol car with a K9 named Dingo inside. The deputy had to jump out of the way to avoid being hit, the report said.

Thompson is accused of rac-

ing away again — southbound on Dixie Highway — and running a red light on Atlantic Boulevard.

The Honda hit a Toyota Prius that rolled over and hit a Jeep Wrangler. The chain reaction caused another sheriff’s patrol car to collide with an Acura MDX at the same intersection, the report said.

The Prius driver needed 32 staples for a head injury. A passenger in the stolen Honda — and one in the Acura — and the deputy were also treated for injuries suffered in the crash.

As the smoke cleared, Thompson got out of the Honda and ran off. Deputies later found him hiding in a nearby apartment building, according to the arrest report.

Thompson’s charges include grand theft auto, robbery, aggravated assault on an officer, aggravated fleeing with injury, leaving the scene of a crash with serious injury, and driving on a suspended license.

Four of the charges were updated in court Tuesday. Thompson is being held in the Broward County Jail on bonds totaling more than $25,000 and he is scheduled for an arraignment hearing on Friday.

Records show that Thompson’s driver’s license was revoked five years ago and he has two previous convictions for driving with a suspended license.
