Kickoff times set for several home games

CORAL GABLES — The start of the season is still more than 100 days away, but Hurricanes football fans can already start planning their tailgating schedules with Miami and the ACC announcing Friday the kickoff times for three more UM games this fall.

The Hurricanes, who are coming off their first 10-win season since 2003, are set to take the field at 6 p.m. on Sept. 8 for their home opener against Savannah State. The game from Hard Rock Stadium will not be televised nationally, but will be carried on ACC Network Extra.

In addition, the kickoff times for two of Miami’s nationally-televised primetime games — against North Carolina and Boston College — were also announced.

The Hurricanes will host the Tar Heels in a Thursday night game on Sept. 27 that will be broadcast at 8 p.m. on ESPN. On Oct. 26, Miami will travel to Chestnut Hill for a Friday night game against the Eagles. That game will kick off at 7 p.m. and will also be carried on ESPN.

Miami’s Sept. 2 season opener against LSU in Arlington, Texas will also be nationally televised, with that game set for a previously-announced 7:30 kickoff from AT&T Stadium.

This is expected to be one of Miami’s most-highly anticipated seasons in recent memory, with the Hurricanes — who finished the 2017 season ranked No. 13 in the final AP Top 25 — looking to return to the ACC Championship Game and defend their first Coastal Division title.

The Hurricanes have been projected a potential pre-season Top 10 team and return several playmakers, including running backs Travis Homer and DeeJay Dallas, receivers Ahmmon Richards and Lawrence Cager, quarterback Malik Rosier, linebackers Shaquille Quarterman, Zach McCloud and Michael Pinckney, safeties Jaquan Johnson and Sheldrick Redwine, corner Michael Jackson and defensive linemen Joe Jackson, Demetrius Jackson, Jonathan Ford and Jonathan Garvin.
