Brewers roll, keeps D’backs on skids

- News services

MILWAUKEE — Travis Shaw hit a three-run homer and Jesus Aguilar delivered a go-ahead two-run single in a seven-run fourth Wednesday to help the Brewers win 9-2 and send the Diamondbacks to their seventh straight loss.

“I’m not going to flip a table clear across the room,” Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo said. “I’ve seen managers do that. It definitely doesn’t have a very positive impact on the clubhouse.”

Brent Suter (4-3) allowed two runs on four hits in 52⁄3 innings as the NL Central-leading Brewers swept the series and won for the 10th time in 13 games.

They moved a season-high 12 games over .500. Their 31-19 start is the best over 50 games in franchise history.

Aguilar had three RBIs, and Tyler Saladino homered and singled home a run.

“We played an excellent series — pitching was outstanding, and we broke out offensively today,” manager Craig Counsell said. “We’re on to the next series, and the goal is to continue to play good baseball.”

The D’backs’ skid is longest since September their 2014. They have fallen from the NL West lead while losing 13 of 14 and scoring just 26 runs in that span. This series marked the Brewers’ first sweep of the Diamondbacks since 2008.

“It’s just baseball,” said Paul Goldschmidt, who homered along with John Ryan Murphy. “We’re going to have to play better.”

That’s exactly wants to see.

“I’ve had a couple of ugly moments postgame, but I think these guys realize that I’m human and I hurt too,” Lovullo said.

The Diamondbacks had just 10 hits in the three-game series. what Lovullo
