7A: PEMBROKE PINES CHARTER 5, FORT MYERS 4: It was just the pitch Angelina Pascual was looking for.

And when she got it, the Pembroke Pines Charter School junior jumped all over it.

Pascual’s double in the top of the seventh inning scored pinch-runner Isabella Devesa with the winning run as the Jaguars rallied to beat the Green Wave.

“I was waiting for that pitch the whole game,” Pascual said. “She left it right there and I knew what to do with it. Thank God there was someone on second base.”

Pasual’s hit completed a big comeback for the Jaguars, who trailed 4-1 in the fifth inning.

The Jaguars (25-5) will play for the state championship this morning at 11:35 against Niceville.

Eliza Gonzalez and Malarie Busha both had two hits and two RBIs for the Jaguars. Pascual also had two hits. Karley Borges and Maegan Calandra also drove in a run.

“They’re amazing,” Jaguars coach Tom Fadul said. “They never quit. They just kept playing. They believed in themselves and they fought back. I’m very proud of them.”

And now they’re the state finals.

“It feels amazing,” Pascual said. “I’ve been waiting for it since the eighth grade. We’ve all been working really and we’re making our dream [come true].” off to

6A: AMERICAN HERITAGE 3, LAKE WALES 0: Pitcher Julia Grobman got out of a jam with the help of her defense and made a third-inning run stand up before the Patriots tacked on some seventh-inning insurance and beat the Highlanders.

Heritage and coach Marty Cooper are one win from their eighth state title, which would tie Bartow for second all-time in the state, behind only Naples’ 10.

The Patriots (20-8) took advantage of Lake Wales (17-13) and its sloppiness.

In the third inning, with one out and no one on, the Highlanders’ first baseman dropped a throw, allowing Olivia Mason to get aboard. The error was followed by a Hannah Sipos single and then what would have been the inning’s third out. However, Kat Rodriguez went to the opposite field for an RBI single.

In the bottom of the fourth, Lake Wales had runners on first and second and no outs when Cameron Dicks laid down a bunt, with no Patriot covering first.

However, the Highlanders’ pinch runner, after advancing to third, wandered off. Sipos, the third baseman, still holding the ball, caught the transgression and fired a bullet to Rodriguez,
