The Tannehill family expanding by one.

On Saturday, Miami Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill and his wife Lauren announced that they are expecting their second child and their son Steel will be getting a sister.

The announcement was made on Lauren’s Instagram page, which featured a picture of the couple with Lauren showing off her baby bump.

These college sweethearts got married in 2012, shortly before the Dolphins drafted Ryan at No. 8 in 2012.

Last week Tannehill, who has started every game he’s played, credited his wife’s support for helping him during the rehab process for the left knee injury that has forced him to miss the Dolphins’ past 20 games.

“It was a long year. There were some dark times,” said Ryan, who owns a 37-40 record as an NFL starter. “I tried to stay positive and take it in stride as much as I could and just do the best is that I could in rehab and grow and get stronger each and every day, but it’s hard. It was a hard time for me just not being around the guys, not being out at practice. I was around in meetings but it’s just not the same.”

Last year, Ryan got a tattoo of laurel leaves placed on the inner part of his right biceps to represent his wife.

“Lauren means ‘by the laurel leaves,’ so that’s it,” Ryan explained.

Steel, their first child, was born in July 2016.
