Alongside her television work in “Private Practice,” “The Good Wife” and the live telecast of “The Sound of Music,” McDonald is best known for her stage successes in “Ragtime,” “The Gershwins’ Porgy and Bess,” “A Raisin in the Sun” and “Lady Day at Emerson’s Bar and Grill.” McDonald’s concert starts at 8 p.m. at the Broward Center, 201 SW Fifth Ave., in Fort Lauderdale. JUNE 30 — GET THE FLOCK OUT THERE

For no reason whatsoever, a bunch of people decorate swan floats and take them onto the waters off Sebastian Street beach in Fort Lauderdale in a crazy LGBT-friendly good time called FlockFest. Previously, it was an informal, either-you-know-or-you-don’t-know thing held on the Fourth of July weekend. Now, for the fourth FlockFest, there will be a DJ and an inflate-your-swan station (for a donation to the Renand Foundation, which helps at-risk families in Haiti). The free event runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sebastian Beach is Fort Lauderdale’s unofficial gay beach and is located between Sebastian and Castillo streets on A1A. For more information, go to FlockFest.com.
