Lawrence Gordon has been appointed to the board of directors of the Palm Beach County League of Cities, 2018-2019. He currently serves as vice mayor in the town of Haverhill and is president of Phoenix Mediation LLC. He is a Florida Supreme Court Certified Circuit Civil Mediator and serves on the Palm Beach County Bar Association Alternative Dispute Resolution Committee and the Florida Bar 15th Judicial Circuit Grievance Committee. Gordon is also a member of the Economic Forum Club of Palm Beach County Gov. Rick Scott appointed Carlos Diaz, and reappointed Melanie Peterson to the South Florida Water Management District Governing Board. Diaz, of Southwest Ranches, is cofounder and vice president of Entic Inc. He succeeds Clarke Harlow and is appointed for a term ending March 1, 2022. Peterson, of Wellington, is owner of South Florida Equine Auction Inc., and a sales associate with the Fite Group. She is reappointed for a term ending March 1, 2022.

Young will lead business development activities to grow existing strategic accounts, develop new partnerships, and expand the organization’s distribution across property and casualty insurance as well as in the connected devices space, among other channels. Young worked the last seven years as senior vice president of travel and event partnerships at Allianz Global Assistance.

Miami-based real estate, investment and development company, HB Capital, has named Gloria Fernandez-Banks as chief executive officer. Fernandez-Banks was previously at Elion Partners and Ross Realty Investments, where she oversaw acquisition, asset performance and managed leasing and property management teams. She currently serves as vice chair for the Broward College Board of Trustees and is an Advisory Board member for the real estate program at Nova Southeastern University. Avison Young’s Mark M. Laura Russell, who is engaged in local community organizations and works with her family’s independent food distribution company, Cheney Brothers, has been appointed to a three-year term on the board of directors of the nonprofit Fish & Wildlife Foundation of Florida. Russell is a past president of the Junior League of the Palm Beaches and is also a board member of the Palm Beach County Food Bank.

Covenant House Florida has announced
Michael S. Long as executive director and that James M. Gress, the agency’s current leader, will take on the role of capital campaign director. Long was previously chief development and communications officer for Broward Partnership for the past six years. Broward Partnership operates the Broward County Central Homeless Assistance Center offering shelter and services to give men, women and families experiencing homelessness the opportunity to stabilize, engage and acquire the personal tools necessary to break the cycle of homelessness. Gress joined Covenant House Florida 33 years ago and moved up the ranks to executive director in 2003. ChildNet, the Community-Based Care lead agency in Broward and Palm Beach counties, announced that Larry Rein has been named chief executive officer and president. Rein most recently was the interim president and CEO of ChildNet. ChildNet has also named
Donna Eprifania as chief financial officer. Most recently, Eprifania was the CEO-Florida State Director of Family Preservation Services of FL, Inc., a provider of case management, community action treatment, crisis safety management and psychiatric/outpatient services. Health Foundation of South Florida announced the election of Bob Dickinson to its board of directors. The board leads the largest philanthropy dedicated to improving health in Broward, Miami-Dade and Monroe counties. Dickinson held positions with Ford Motor Co., RCA and Carnival Cruise Lines where he was president chief executive officer, prior to retiring in 2007. Dickinson is chairman emeritus of Camillus House and is a trustee for St. Thomas University.
