Knee surgery sidelines Carroo

DAVIE — Receiver Leonte Carroo is the only Miami Dolphins player who won’t participate in this week’s minicamp.

The former Rutgers standout Miami selected in the third round of the 2016 draft had arthroscopic surgery on his knee, and according to coach Adam Gase, he’ll miss the next two weeks of practice, but should be healthy enough for the start of training camp in late July.

Carroo had 10 receptions for 98 yards and one TD the past two seasons.

Safety Jordan Lucas, a converted cornerback participating in his third camp with the Dolphins, missed Tuesday’s practice because of a foot injury that requires a walking boot. Gase classified Lucas’ injury as day to day.

Ross attends

Dolphins owner Steve Ross attended the first day of Miami’s minicamp and watched the entire session from the sidelines.

Ross, who resides in New York during the week, was spotted chatting with Mike Tannenbaum, the team’s vice president of football operations, Gase, and various players, including receiver Jakeem Grant.

Fales impresses

QB David Fales appears to be campaigning for the role as Ryan Tannehill’s top backup.

Fales, who impressed last training camp and was added to the team in late October, has been sharp, and during Tuesday’s minicamp practice he connected on a deep pass to tight end Thomas Duarte that might have produced a touchdown.

“He keeps getting better and is utilizing the guys he’s playing with in practice,” Gase said. “He’s doing a good job finding open guys.”
