Say hello to a classic film
It’s the 35th anniversary of “Scarface.”
Say hello to “Scarface” again. As part of its 35th anniversary, the Brian De Palma cult classic will be screened at several South Florida theaters today and Wednesday.
Following the screening, those theaters will show a discussion with the director De Palma and the movie’s stars, Al Pacino, Steven Bauer and Michelle Pfeiffer, that was filmed at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York City in April.
The screenings will be at nine Regal theaters in South Florida — Fort Lauderdale, Hollywood, Pembroke Pines, Plantation, Sunrise, Miami Beach, Cutler Bay, Kendall and Royal Palm Beach. (For tickets and more info, visit www.scarface35.com.)
South Floridians may recall when production crews arrived in April 1983 to shoot scenes in Miami and Miami Beach, including at the Fontainebleau and along Ocean Drive.
Pacino played the foul-mouthed Tony Montana and the movie followed his rise from Cuban dishwasher to cocaine lord. Bauer played his younger sidekick Manolo and Pfeiffer a cocaine addict married to Montana.
