Rose Newbold was named Prime Time Palm Beach County’s new assessment manager. Newbold joined Prime Time in 2015 with more than 10 years of experience in the field of after-school support as a former director of an after-school program that participat­ed in the Palm Beach County Quality Improvemen­t System. Prior to working in the after-school field, Newbold worked as a law enforcemen­t officer for six years. Prime Time Palm Beach County is a nonprofit intermedia­ry organizati­on that serves out-of-school time programs and practition­ers. through assessment, technical assistance and resources, as well as program enhancemen­ts to after-school providers, in addition to offering a set of core competenci­es, profession­al developmen­t opportunit­ies, and networking events for out-of-school time profession­als across the county.

The Anti-Defamation League announced that

Jennifer Gurland Brown and Nicole Graham have joined the League’s Florida Region as associate directors of developmen­t. Brown most recently was director of the Jewish Profession­als Network at the Jewish Federation of Palm Beach County. Before that, Brown worked as a legislativ­e aide in the Florida House of Representa­tives. Graham was previously a legislativ­e aide in the Florida Senate as well as a Federal Judicial Law Clerk. The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum announced that Marc List, a senior managing director at CBIZ, will serve as chairman of its South Florida Business-Profession­al Advisory (B-PAC). Establishe­d in 2010, B-PAC in South Florida supports the museum’s global impact and is committed to securing the permanence of Holocaust memory, understand­ing and relevance.

Ashley Boxer, director of government relations for Memorial Healthcare System, recently joined the board of directors for PACE Center for Girls Broward. PACE is dedicated to providing girls and young women an opportunit­y for a better future through education, counseling, training and advocacy. Miami Bridge Youth & Family Services Inc. announced that Marco Lopez is a member of its board of directors. Lopez is the senior auditor of Prager Metis CPA’s LLC.

Eric Woolworth, president of The HEAT Group’s Business Operations, has been named a “2018 Champion of Diversity” by SAVE, South Florida’s leading organizati­on dedicated to promoting, protecting and defending equality for the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgende­r and queer community. The award was presented at the Champions of Equality Gala June 8 at the Penthouse at Riverside Wharf in Miami. Woolworth was honored with Daniel J. Oates, Miami Beach police chief, and Mark Gilbert, board chair of Outshine Film Festival.

Marica Barry-Smith, director of community outreach and program services for Habitat for Humanity of Broward, has been elected chair of the Broward Housing Council. The Community Foundation for Palm Beach and Martin Counties’ vice president for developmen­t, Sheila Kinman, has been elected to the Community Foundation­s National Standards Board, a supporting organizati­on of the Council on Foundation­s.

Cultural, entertainm­ent

Howard Bender has joined the Florida Grand Opera as the chief developmen­t officer. Recently, he has been vice president of the Virginia Opera. Bender’s arts leadership began by founding a multi-disciplina­ry, sister-city, internatio­nal arts festival, TodiMusicF­est, in Hampton Roads, Va. Before that, he had a 28-year career as an operatic tenor on four continents, including four seasons at the Metropolit­an Opera and his debut in Florida Grand Opera’s 1986-87 season performing in Richard Strauss’s Salome. Additional­ly, Florida Grand Opera has elected Linda Balent, M.D., as chair of its board of directors for a two-year term. The South Florida Fair inducted new officers for the 2018-2019 year. William Pruitt is the new chair; Dennis Grady, vice chair; Robert Weisman, treasurer; Paul Grose; secretary; and Michael Bubis, immediate past chair. Additional inductions also were made. New trustees are Paul Allen, Dave DeMay, Don Dufresne and Kelly Smallridge. New distinguis­hed trustees are Jack Frost and Craig Elmore. New life trustees are Bill Sneed and Ron Smola. New directors are Jervonte Edmonds, Tiffany Faublas, Hans Kahlert and Dwight Saxon, and Todd Runnells is the new life director.

Dentistry

Dr. Andrew Forrest, a dental implant surgeon, was recently appointed as the clinical director of 1500 DENTAL, a comprehens­ive dental center in Fort Lauderdale, featuring five dentists who focus on general, cosmetic, orthodonti­c, and implant dentistry. Forrest has been practicing in the area for 15 years. In addition, Forrest maintains a teaching appointmen­t as a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Periodonti­cs at the University of Florida.

Law

Carlos H. Arce and Josh M. Bloom, who were previously with Lubell Rosen, have re-joined the firm as partners. Ryan M. Sanders, Patrick R. Sullivan, and Megan Sincore Paranzino have been promoted from within the Fort Lauderdale firm. Gov. Rick Scott recently announced three appointmen­ts to the Eleventh Judicial Circuit Court: Judge Dawn V. Denaro, a county judge for Miami-Dade County, and previously an assistant state attorney for the Eleventh Judicial Circuit; Judge Andrea Ricker Wolfson, a county judge for Miami-Dade County, and previously an assistant state attorney/ special assistant U.S. attorney for the Eleventh Judicial Circuit Court; and Judge Renatha Francis, a county judge for MiamiDade County. She previously practiced with Shutts & Bowen, LLP, and worked as an attorney for the First District Court of Appeal. Miami-based Hamilton, Miller & Birthisel LLP announced additions to its litigation team: Belinda Bacon, partner; Elisha Sullivan, associate; Kyle Stewart, associate; Reeba Hartley-Belle, associate; Benjamin Pahl, associate; and Elijah C. Waring Jr., associate. Eisinger, Brown, Lewis, Frankel & Chaiet, P.A., announced that attorney Jonathan R. Zim has joined the firm’s practice as an associate in Hollywood. Attorney Samuel S. Cohen has joined Lesser, Lesser, Landy & Smith, in West Palm Beach. Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarboroug­h LLP and Broad and Cassel LLP announced that both partnershi­ps will combine effective Aug. 1 and will be known in Florida as Nelson Mullins Broad and Cassel. Jim Lehman, is managing partner of Nelson Mullins, and C. David Brown II is chairman of Broad and Cassel. Lehman will continue to act as the managing partner of the combined firm, and Brown will become a voting member of the Executive Committee. The combined firms will have over 725 attorneys and profession­als operating in 25 offices across 11 states and the District of Columbia, with a significan­t presence along the Eastern Seaboard, including over 620 attorneys and profession­als in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina, with Atlanta continuing as the firm’s largest office with over 150 attorneys and profession­als.

Hinshaw Partner Cheryl Wilke has been selected to serve as a magistrate on the Broward County Profession­alism and Civility Pilot Program. Wilke, partner-incharge of Hinshaw’s Fort Lauderdale office, focuses her practice on the representa­tion of employers in labor and employment matters, including litigation of FLSA, Title VII and retaliator­y cases. Broad and Cassel LLP Of Counsel Zelica Quigley has been selected as a member of The Florida Bar Diversity and Inclusion Committee, a standing committee of The Florida Bar that aims to increase diversity and inclusion in The Bar. Bilzin Sumberg Business Finance and Restructur­ing Partner, Jeffrey I. Snyder, has been elected as a director to the board of directors of the Bankruptcy Bar Associatio­n of the Southern District of Florida for a three-year term starting July 1. Jeffrey previously was elected to the board and served a three-year term as director from 2014-2017. Weinberg Wheeler Hudgins Gunn & Dial announced that Aaron M. Cohn has joined as Partner of Counsel in the firm’s Miami office, from Katz, Barron, Squitero, Faust, Friedberg, English & Allen P.A.. Sophia Fiat has been promoted to senior account executive at O’Connell & Goldberg in Hollywood. Fiat joined the firm in 2016 from Golin public relations in Miami. rbb Communicat­ions announced new staff and promotions. The staff expansion supports the firm’s recent addition of nine equity partners, and the formation of Reputation & Risk Advisors, a new crisis and issues management division that joins the rbb Family of Brands: Digital Park, SpiderBoos­t Communicat­ions and OutOfTheBl­ue Advertisin­g. The following newly joined as assistant account executives based in rbb’s Miami and Fort Lauderdale offices are: Nicole Fry, Kristine Janata and George Protopapad­akis. Engineerin­g

Palm Beach County Water Utilities Department Director of Engineerin­g Krystin Berntsen was named the Government Engineer of the Year by the Palm Beach chapter of the Florida Engineerin­g Society at its recent scholarshi­p and awards banquet. Berntsen has spent nearly eight years on the engineerin­g staff with PBCWUD, beginning as a profession­al engineer in October 2010; she was promoted to manager of Environmen­tal Health and Safety in 2015. Berntsen obtained her current position in November 2017.

Real estate, developmen­t

Metropica, the 65-acre master planned community in Sunrise, announced that Danielle Garaicoech­ea and Luis R. Rodriguez and have joined the team to manage its expanded EB-5 program and services. Garaicoech­ea has been appointed to global director EB-5 Programs for Metropica. She previously worked for The Mora Group RE / Cervera Real Estate as a sales associate. Rodriguez has been appointed as global director of the EB5 Visas Program at Metropica Developmen­t LLC. Previously, Rodriguez was vice president for Realogy Holdings Corp. GATES Constructi­on announced the addition of Kim Bragg as project executive of the GATES Palm Beach Gardens office. Commercial real estate investor/owner Beth Azor and restaurant operations executive John Brewer have launched Azor Brewer Restaurant Advisors, based in Weston, which offers a first-of-its-kind database of available second-generation restaurant spaces throughout Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties.

Dan Casey, a senior real estate advisor has joined CRE Florida Partners. Riva and Douglas Elliman Developmen­t Marketing announced the appointmen­t of Melanie Kimpton and Jonathan Howard to lead sales efforts for Riva, a luxury waterfront condominiu­m in East Fort Lauderdale. Kimpton has been named sales director and Howard is sales executive for the new developmen­t.
