Marlins RHP Dan Straily (2-2, 4.23 ERA, 1.410 WHIP) vs. Giants RHP Dereck Rodriguez (1-1, 4.34 ERA, 1.554 WHIP): It’s been a tale of two seasons so far this year for Straily, who started Marlins victories in his first five outings of 2017 and started in Miami losses in each of his past four performances. Straily, typically an innings-eater who topped 180 innings pitched in each of the past two seasons, has completed more than six innings just once this year and not at all in the last five starts. Against the Giants on Thursday, Straily recorded a season-high seven strikeouts while allowing three runs in five innings. He only gave up three hits, but two of them were home runs, one by Andrew McCutchen and one by Mac Williamson. … Rodriguez, the son of former Marlins catcher Pudge Rodriguez, will face Miami for the second straight start. He matched up against Straily in San Francisco’s 16-inning 6-3 win on Thursday afternoon, surrendering just two runs across 6 2/3 innings. It was Rodriguez’s longest start of his young career and he did not walk a batter for the first time in the major leagues. The 26-year-old went to Miami Pace High School.
