■ Red Sox: RHP Rick Porcello allowed one hit in seven innings, OFs Mookie Betts and Andrew Benintendi homered, and the Red Sox defeated the Twins 9-2 on Thursday to avoid a series sweep. SS Xander Bogaerts had two RBIs for the Red Sox, who totaled a season-high 16 hits and finished 6-4 on a road trip through Baltimore, Seattle and Minnesota.

■ Rockies: 3B Nolan Arenado homered for the third straight game and drove in five runs to lead the Rockies to a 6-4 victory over the Mets. Arenado’s second five-RBI game of the season backed LHP Kyle Freeland, who allowed two runs and five hits over six innings.

■ Marlins: RHP Dan Straily was suspended for five games for intentiona­lly throwing a pitch at Giants C Buster Posey on Tuesday night while warnings were in place for both teams. Manager Don Mattingly received a onegame suspension, and both men were fined an undisclose­d amount.

■ Cardinals: RHP Michael Wacha, who leads the Cardinals in wins and strikeouts, was placed on the 10-day disabled list with a left oblique strain after leaving Wednesday’s game against the Phillies in the fourth inning. RHP John Gant was recalled from Triple-A Memphis for the third time this season.

■ Diamondbac­ks: RHP Shelby Miller is scheduled to return to the Diamondbac­ks rotation Monday, 14 months after he underwent Tommy John surgery. Miller pitched 191⁄3 innings in four minor-league rehab starts, striking out 28.

■ Mariners: RHPs Juan Nicasio (right knee swelling) and Dan Altavilla (right elbow UCL sprain) went on the 10-day DL. The Mariners recalled INF Daniel Vogelbach and purchased the contract of RHP Mike Morin from Triple-A Tacoma.

■ A’s, White Sox: The A’s-White Sox game became baseball’s 40th postponeme­nt this season. It will be made up Friday as part of a straight doublehead­er that will begin at 3:10 p.m. Central time.
