BOCARATON— Florida Atlantic men’s basketball coach DustyMay has finally completed his first recruiting class.

On Friday, the school announced the signing of 10 players. May has been on the job since March when he replaced Michael Curry, who was fired after his fourth season.

The class includes four freshman, three junior college playersandthree transfers.

“Overall, this class will add length, athleticism, the ability to play multiple positions and especially shooting,” May said.

“It’s also a balanced class in terms of experience. That should give our roster some continuity in the future. We wanted to add depth to our roster andwe feel likewe’ve hit a home run with this class. All of these young men come from winning programs. We want to create a culture of success. The best way to do that is to bring in recruits that know what it takes to win and we feel like we’ve done that with this class.”

Ely guard Michael Forrest is considered the prize of the class. He averaged 26 points last season and led his team to a state title. Forrestwas also the South Florida Sun Sentinel’s 9A-7A Player of the Year.

“Michael Forrest is a local player who we focused on immediately after getting the job,” May said. “He comes froma great program that has won at a high level and he was a big part of their success. He scores, he defends, he’s going to be a very good player for FAU for the next four years.”
