Action is not related to XXXTentacion killing

Ten days after Robert Allen was named a person of interest in the killing of South Florida rapper XXXTentacion, a Broward County judge signed a warrant for his arrest.

Allen, 22, of Fort Lauderdale, was seen in a surveillance image from RIVA Motorsports in Deerfield Beach on June 18, the same day XXXTentacion shopped there and was shot several times.

The warrant for Allen’s arrest is not related to the homicide investigation, and was issued June 28. The Sheriff ’s Office released it Tuesday.

Allen has been on probation for possessing PVP, or flakka, and carrying a concealed firearm, the Broward Sheriff ’s Office said. But he has “failed to make every effort” to find a job, and owes the state $3,386 for accrued monthly fees to pay for community supervision, according to the warrant.

On the day XXXTentacion, 20, of Plantation, died, the rapper was behind the wheel of his black BMW i8. An SUV blocked the luxury car as it was leaving the motorcycle dealer’s parking lot at Northeast 37th Street, just west of North Dixie Highway.

Two gunmen — one in a black mask, the other wearing a red mask — jumped out of the SUV and struggled with the artist, whose given name is Jahseh Dwayne Ricardo Onfroy.

He was shot multiple times during the ambush. A small bag was stolen from his BMW before the gunmen fled, according to an arrest report.

Detectives have arrested one person in the case.

Dedrick Devonshay Williams, 22, of Pompano Beach, is accused of being the driver of the SUV that Monday afternoon. He was arrested June 20 and faces a premeditated-murder charge, though detectives don’t believe he fired a gun during the killing. They are looking for other suspects. Williams is being held without bond in Fort Lauderdale in the main county jail.

After the attack on XXXTentacion, paramedics took him to Broward Health North in Deerfield Beach, where he died. The Broward County Medical Examiner’s Office listed his cause of death as multiple gunshot wounds.

A viewing of the artist’s open casket was held last week at the BB&T Center in Sunrise, and drew massive crowds of young mourners who wanted to say farewell to him.

His mother, Cleopatra Bernard of Parkland, posted on Instagram a photograph of his mausoleum. ljtrischitta@sunsentinel
