The co-owner of the Poke House, Growlers and Howlers and JB&C has introduced this alfresco sandwich shop near downtown.

“Sailboat Bend and Riverside Park are historic neighborhoods with a unique feel and energy,” Memphis Garrett says. “There are canopy tree-lined streets, lots of families and young professionals and a real neighborhood vibe. And the proximity to downtown Fort Lauderdale gives this area the best of both worlds.”

The menu suggests beer pairings with sandwiches, which are named after U.S. cities: Santa Monica club ($11) with Golden Road Mango Cart; Miami Cuban ($12) with Hatuey cerveza; New York Italian ($12) with Blue Point Toasted Lager; New Orleans po’ boy ($13) with Abita Andygator; and Key West dolphin ($13) with Islamorada Ale.

Thirteen beers range from $5 to $9. The restaurant is scheduled to serve soft-serve ice cream and blizzards ($3-$8) starting today.

Customers receive a playing card, such as the ace of spades, when ordering at the walk-up window. Lunch and dinner are served daily amid a retro vibe with vintage signs, casual seating on artificial turf, a picket fence, TV and fans under a large awning.

“Ever since I bought my house in Sailboat Bend, I have been eyeing this location,” Garrett says. “I wanted to create a laid-back place where people can walk, bike or drive over to hang out.”
