Angels: Kole Calhoun’s tworun homer helped the Angels win 7-4 and snap the Mariners’ winning streak at eight. Calhoun had three hits and three RBIs. Luis Valbuena added two RBIs. In his return from the DL, Garrett Richards allowed three runs and struck out eight in 51⁄3 innings.

Yankees: 2B Gleyber Torres went on the DL with a strained right hip. He left Wednesday’s game after striking out in the fourth inning . ... Giancarlo Stanton hit a three-run homer and Aaron Judge added a solo shot in a 6-2 win over the Braves. Kyle Higashioka also homered for the Yankees, becoming the ninth player since 1920 whose first three hits were home runs.

Phillies: Aaron Nola stuck out nine in seven innings and Nick Williams hit a two-run homer in a 4-1 win over the Orioles. Nola (11-2) gave up one run on seven hits and won his fifth straight decision. The Phils pulled within 11⁄2 games of the NL East-leading Braves and are 10 games over .500 for the first time since 2011. ... 2B Ryan Goins signed a minorleagu­e contract.

Athletics: Stephen Piscotty doubled three times and drove in three runs in a 4-2 win over the Padres. Khris Davis added an RBI single for the A’s, who have won 14 of 17 to move a season-high nine games over .500.

Brewers: Nate Orf homered after starting his career 0-for-7, helping the Brewers top the Twins 3-2. Brad Miller also homered as the NL leaders picked up their seventh sweep of the season. The Twins ended their nine-game trip 1-8.

Cubs: Willson Contreras hit a tiebreakin­g homer as the Cubs beat the Tigers 5-2 for their sixth straight victory. David Bote hit his first MLB home run. The Tigers have dropped 13 of 15 . ... The Cubs recalled C/INF Victor Caratini and designated C Chris Gimenez for assignment.

Marlins: Jose Urena and three relievers combined on a four-hit shutout in a 3-0 victory over the Rays. J.T. Riddle singled, tripled and homered. The loss was just the Rays’ third in 12 games.
