Cardinals: Matt Carpenter and Dexter Fowler homered in a 6-4 victory against the Reds in St. Louis, making interim manager Mike Shildt a winner in his first game. Shildt took over for Mike Matheny, who was fired late Saturday after six-plus seasons at the helm.

Dodgers: Yasmani Grandal homered, Enrique Hernandez hit a solo shot on his first pitch in the seventh inning for the go-ahead run, and the Dodgers rallied for a 5-3 win over the Angels to gain a split in the Freeway Series.

Indians: Michael Brantley homered leading off the eighth inning, and the Indians beat the Yankees 5-2 in Cleveland for a split of their four-game series.

Orioles: Manny Machado homered before making an early exit and the Orioles rallied past the Rangers 6-5 in Baltimore. Machado was removed in the fifth inning after a 26-minute rain delay. The last-place Orioles are entertaini­ng offers for Machado, who is expected to be dealt before the July 31 non-waiver trade deadline.

Tigers: John Hicks hit one of four home runs off Justin Verlander, and the Tigers snapped a six-game losing streak with a 6-3 victory in Houston. Verlander struck out 12 in six innings in his first start against his former team. But he allowed a season-high six runs while dropping his third straight decision.

Red Sox: Xander Bogaerts homered in his first at-bat a day after hitting a game-ending grand slam, and the Red Sox beat the Blue Jays 5-2 in Boston to enter the break with their best record (68-30) since 1949.

Rockies: All-Star Trevor Story led off the ninth inning with his 20th homer, and the Rockies completed a series sweep of the Mariners with a 4-3 victory in Denver.

Nationals: Daniel Murphy and Trea Turner each hit two-run singles in a five-run seventh inning as the Nationals beat the Mets 6-1 in New York.

Twins: Brian Dozier hit a grand slam in the 10th for an 11-7 win over the Rays in Minneapoli­s.
