A Pompano Beach man stabbed a man to death because he parked illegally in a spot reserved for the disabled, according to an arrest report.

The violent confrontation happened about 5:30 p.m. Monday in front of a day-care center called Little Treasures Academy, 101 SE 11th Ave., south of East Atlantic Boulevard and east of North Dixie Highway in Pompano Beach, the report said.

Julio Ramos, 43, faces a murder charge for repeatedly stabbing a man in the chest and stomach with a folding knife with a 4-inch blade, the Broward Sheriff’s Office said. Detectives on Tuesday withheld the victim’s name.

Ramos hurt himself during the stabbing and was hospitalized overnight to be treated for injuries that were not life threatening, his arrest report said.

Ramos started an argument with the victim, who was sitting in his parked vehicle, because hewas “allegedly illegally parked in a handicapped spot,” witnesses told investigators. Ramos told the man to get out of his car. He did so and the argument continued until Ramos pulled out the knife and repeatedly stabbed him, the report said. “This caused the victim to suffer life-threatening cardiovascular and pulmonary injuries,” DeputyMark Warsawwrote in his report. Before the stabbed man lost consciousness, he told deputies thatRamos had attacked him with the knife. A deputy, the report said, found the knife in Ramos’ front pocket.
