Maxwell to play at Hard Rock
Grammy-winning neosoul singer Maxwell will bring his 50 Intimate Nights Live tour Oct. 17 to the Hard Rock Event Center at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood.
Tickets will cost $106, $81 and $51 and go on sale 10 a.m. Friday at the Hard Rock website at MyHRL.com, and all Ticketmaster outlets, including Ticketmaster.com and by calling 800-745-3000.
A presale for Citibank cardholders begins 10 a.m. Wednesday, followed by a venue presale 10 a.m. Thursday via the Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood Facebook and Twitter pages.
Maxwell, born Gerald Maxwell Rivera in Brooklyn to a Haitian mother and Puerto Rican father, has been a sweet-voiced and uncompromising presence at the intersection of pop and soul since his 1996 debut album, “Maxwell’s Urban Hang Suite” (one of the year’s 10 best in the view of critics at Rolling Stone, Time and other outlets).
Last month, Maxwell released a stirring new song, “The Glass House (We Never Saw It Coming),” with an accompanying video, more of a short film, lamenting the demise of love and the rise of division, starring activist, actress and model Yomi Abiola.
The singer also is planning a 20th anniversary reissue of his genre-stretching 1998 album “Embrya” later this year.
