A North Miami Beach police officer has been arrested after allegedly kicking a woman who was eight months pregnant, police said.

“The victim was transported to Mount Sinai hospital,” said Miami Beach Police spokesman Ernesto Rodriguez. “At last check, she delivered a healthy baby.”

Officer Ambar Pacheco, 26, is charged with aggravated battery on a pregnant victim, according to the filed in the case.

It happened about 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, in the 1400 block of Washington Avenue in Miami Beach, police said.

It was the result of an apparent dispute involving Pacheco, her sister, the 27-year-old pregnant woman, and the woman’s boyfriend, according to the police report.

Pacheco told investigators the pregnant woman’s boyfriend kicked her (Pacheco’s) sister in the face so Pacheco, “saw red and beat the arrest report [expletive] out of her,” the report stated. Pacheco later told officers she, “kicked somebody,” but, “doesn’t know who,” police said.

The pregnant woman told investigators Pacheco struck her in the stomach and that she felt contractions, the report said.

The woman’s due date was Aug. 4, but she gave birth at the hospital where she was taken after the dispute.

Pacheco has been relieved of duty pending the outcome of an investigation.
