Mother catches man having sex with teen

SUNRISE — A 13-year-old girl sneaks out of the house Friday sometime after midnight.

Around 2 a.m., her mom realizes she’s not in her room. She steps outside only to find a silver Honda Accord rocking back and forth in front of their Sunrise home.

She sees her daughter having sex in the back seat with a guy she doesn’t recognize — and calls 911.

Juan Centeno, 19, met the girl on Instagram and admitted to having sex with her that night and on four other occasions — each time in the back seat of his car in front of the girl’s home, Sunrise police say.

Officers arrested the Margate man Friday at 5:12 a.m., charging him with five counts of lewd or lascivious battery on a minor.

By the time police arrived, Centeno was in the driver’s seat of his car and the girl was still in the back.

She told officers she’d just finished having sex with her friend, a man she’d known only a few weeks.

Centeno also admitted to having sex with the girl, police say. He told officers he met the teen through Instagram on July 5.

Centeno claimed the girl told him she was 14 and that she liked “older men” and had already had sex with another 19-year-old, according to a police report.

The teen’s mother told police she wanted to pursue charges.

Because of the nature of the crime, the South Florida Sun Sentinel is not naming the mother to protect the identity of the teen.

The girl was taken to a sexual assault treatment center for evaluation.

Centeno was taken to jail by police and records show he was released from Saturday afternoon after posting $30,000 bond.
