Colombian singer-songwriter and Grammy winner Shakira has re-listed her 9,125-square-foot gated home in Miami Beach with Douglas Elliman Real Estate for $11.648 million. The home has been on and off the market for several years.

The two-story contemporary home, at 3140 N. Bay Road, features six bedrooms, seven full and one half bathrooms, an open floor plan, a spacious “Grand Room” with abundant light, a home gym, and a hookah lounge area. The home, which sits on a 20,726-square-foot lot with 100 feet of frontage on Biscayne Bay, also has a heated pool, wooden

deck and cabana.

“The house is very open and has a lot of light,” said Ana Lourdes Martinez, a real estate agent with Douglas Elliman who holds the listing with Shakira’s halfbrother, Antonio Mebarak, also an Elliman agent. “There is a lot of space to entertain family and friends.”

North Bay Road is just a short drive to everything Miami Beach has to offer, but still provides privacy and exclusivity to residents, so it’s an area that’s popular with celebrities. Ricky Martin, Alex Rodriguez and Jennifer Lopez have all owned homes there, Martinez said.

“It’s a prime location,” she added. “It’s the most prestigious residential street in Miami Beach.”

Shakira’s contemporary home has minimalist interiors, with many white surfaces and textures and light wood floors. Two separate wings allow for privacy for both the homeowners and guests.

The property was purchased for $3.38 million in August 2001 by North Bay Road Investments LLC, an entity with its principal office in New York City and managed by Nidia Ripoll, Shakira’s mother. It was originally built in 1951 and was fully renovated.

According to her Facebook page, Shakira has sold more than 60 million records worldwide and has won numerous Grammy, Latin Grammy, World Music, Billboard Music and American Music Awards. Active in charitable endeavors, Shakira founded the Pies Descalzos (Barefoot) Foundation, which provides education and nutrition to children in Colombia. In 2011, she was named a member of President Obama’s Advisory Commission on Educational Excellence for Hispanics. She has also served as a coach on NBC’s singing-competition show, “The Voice.”
