Vocational institute expands
Private school’s first classes at Miramar campus begin in Sept.
Having recently expanded to Broward County, the Florida Vocational Institute is now enrolling for September classes.
The Miami-based, private, post-education provider trains students for entry-level careers in health care and information technology. The first classes at its new, nearly 30,000-square-foot campus at the Miramar Park of Commerce, 3502-3560 Enterprise Way, began in June with 25 students, according to the institute’s president, Denyse Antunes.
The Miramar site has the capacity to accommodate more than 300 students for morning and evening classes, Antunes said.
“Our new campus in Miramar has the capacity to accommodate additional staff and several hundred more students,” she said in a statement. “As FVI continues to grow, we are excited to expand program offerings that further provide our students with the knowledge and training necessary to thrive in South Florida’s competitive work environment, subsequently offering employers qualified and skilled candidates and benefiting the regional business community as a whole.”
The school also has a 15,677-square-foot main campus in Miami, serving more than 300 students, and a 750-square-foot satellite facility in Doral, which serves six students enrolled in the Institute’s web development and design programs.
The Miramar Park of Commerce is one of South Florida’s largest business parks with more than 5 million square feet of space. Tenants include Siemens, Tommy Hilfiger, Neiman Marcus, Humana, Quest Diagnostics, Toyota, Nissan, Stanley Black & Decker, and Pepperidge Farm.
