Red Neck Nachos, 10 Napkin Burgers
Billy Jack’s Shack
218 Commercial Blvd., Suite 102, Lauderdale-by-the-Sea, 954-990-8671, BillyJacksShack.com
A second location of the 7-year-old original Billy Jack’s Shack in Virginia — a sibling of the Jack Brown's Beer & Burger Joint chain — has brought indulgent comfort food to the former Giannino Italian Restaurant.
“We chose Lauderdale-by-the-Sea because of its laid-back, tight-knit and family-oriented vibe,” franchisee Yuri Tsyganov says. “The menu and decor are a continuation of what has made the original in Harrisonburg such a great success. Decor staples such as the tin-roof bar, reclaimed wood on the back porch, and a grill of a ’67 Chevy doubling as the centerpiece of the main bar can all be found at this location.”
Todd Zimmer, former executive chef at Prime 112 in Miami Beach, offers Sticky Nuggs chicken nuggets ($6.99), loaded Red Neck Nachos ($10.99) and fried chicken and waffle ($12.99). Sliders ($8.99-$9.99) and 10 Napkin Burgers ($10.99-$12.99), such as El Chupacabra with goat cheese and sweet chili bacon jam, come in multiple renditions.
Artisanal doughnuts ($2) reign for dessert, such as the Muddy Pig with Nutella and bacon.
Ten of 75 beers are on draft, and the Porch Pounder with Jack Daniel’s and iced tea captures the South ($12).
Lunch and dinner are served daily, plus weekend brunch, amid Americana kitsch and shacklike nooks. Open garage doors bridge to the covered front patio. A range of musicians performs Fridays and Sundays under a twirling disco ball.
Up next: a Davie location this winter.
