Headed into week 2 of the season, there is already one marquee matchup looming: Dwyer is taking on Atlantic. Both teams recorded impressive wins in their season openers.

Dwyer manhandled Park Vista 40-0 in their opener at home, while Atlantic shut down Palm Beach Central 14-0 in their game.

All of this week’s games are Friday at 6 p.m. unless noted.

1. DWYER (1-0)

The Panthers’ defense dominated Park Vista last week, limiting the Cobras to just 74 yards rushing. Colby Dempsey and DaQuan Wilson each returned intercepti­ons for touchdowns.

2. ATLANTIC (1-0)

The Eagles’ defense was lights out against the visiting Broncos on Saturday as they forced three turnovers and held Palm Beach Central to just 96 total yard. Atlantic, last year’s Class 8A state runner-up, will face a difficult task Friday when Dwyer comes to town.

3. PALM BEACH CENTRAL (0-1)

The Broncos’ offense has combined for three points in almost eight quarters of play in their kickoff classic vs. top-ranked Dwyer on Aug. 17 and Saturday’s season opener at No. 2 Atlantic.

4. PAHOKEE (1-0)

The Blue Devils lost Ja’tarie Washington in the second quarter of their 28-19 win over Palm Beach Lakes, but LaVonski Williams stepped in with 76 yards rushing and a TD, along with a 50-yard scoring reception.

5. WELLINGTON (1-0)

Senior Mark-Antony Richards had 282 all-purpose yards and two TDs in the win over Royal Palm Beach.

6. PALM BEACH GARDENS (1-0)

The Gators’ David Studstill was a stud in leading the Gators from an early deficit to a 40-6 rout. He accounted for four touchdowns.

7. AMERICAN HERITAGE-DELRAY (1-0)

The Stallions needed last-second heroics from Dallis Smalls to beat Belen Jesuit for the first time in school history. Smalls ran for a career-high 284 yards and scored four TDs, including a 24-yarder with 1:22 left in the contest in the 36-29 win.

8. BOCA RATON (1-0)

With new coach Brandon Walker installing a more up-tempo offense, the Bobcats responded with an impressive 36-13 win over Doral Academy.

9. FOREST HILL (1-0)

Darius McClendon engineered an offense that rushed for more than 300 yards in a 40-12 rout of Suncoast.

10. SEMINOLE RIDGE (1-0)

Coming off a 9-3 season and with a new coach in Rick Casko, the Hawks got off to a good start with a 23-6 win over Santaluces. Next: vs. Suncoast
