Alligator called ‘Fat Daddy’ bites man grabbing golf disc from water

A man retrieving a golf disc from a pond in a Clearwater park Monday was bitten by an alligator believed to be 10 or 11-feet long. The alligator, nicknamed “Fat Daddy,” was later removed from the pond, as was a second alligator.

A quiet afternoon playing disc golf in a Clearwater park turned into something else when a man went into a pond to retrieve one of the plastic discs and was bitten by an alligator.

The alligator, an estimated 10 to 11-feet long, was removed from the pond by licensed trappers with assistance from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservati­on Commission and Clearwater police who later posted a video of the incident on the department’s Facebook page.

People who frequent the park and have seen the alligator before have come up with the name “Fat not lifethreat­ening. for the large gator, WFLA television reported.

Witnesses told the station that the man who was bitten is known to retrieve golf discs from the water in order to earn tips from the players.

A second alligator also removed from pond Monday.
