Palm football Top 10
Atlantic High School continues its stranglehold on the top spot in the South Florida Sun Sentinel football rankings with its third consecutive win over a top-10 opponent.
The Eagles, last year’s Class 8A state runner-up, added Pahokee to their list of victims this season with a 35-21 win on the road Friday night. Atlantic has two weeks off before opening District 10-8A play at Park Vista on Sept. 21.
All of this week’s games are Friday at 6 p.m. unless noted.

The Eagles have defeated No. 2 Palm Beach Central, No. 3 Dwyer and No. 5 Pahokee by a combined score of 79-34.

2. (2) PALM BEACH CENTRAL (2-1)
The Broncos’ offense remained in high gear, setting school records for points scored as they cruised past Miami Braddock 63-7. Quarterback RJ Dourit went 6 for 7 for 164 yards and 2 TDs.

3. (3) DWYER (2-1)
The Panthers downed host Glades Central in the muck 42-14 as Colbein Clayton, Juju Rincon, and Paul Whitely all returned interceptions for touchdowns.

4. (5) PALM BEACH GARDENS (3-0)
Palm Beach Gardens rolled to a third consecutive convincing win with a 28-0 victory over Lake Worth.

5. (4) PAHOKEE (1-2)
The Blue Devils were again without standout running back Ja’tarie Washington against visiting Atlantic, however, mistakes doomed Pahokee.

6. (8) FOREST HILL (3-0)
Forest Hill will look to stop the Wildcats following a convincing 50-14 win over John I. Leonard. The Falcons rushed for 441 yards and 8 TDs on 32 carries.
Next: at Royal Palm Beach 7. (7) AMERICAN HERITAGE-DELRAY (2-0) The Stallions will be looking to go 3-0, and running back Dallis Smalls will aim to pass the century mark again when they host Monsignor Pace, a Class 4A regional finalist last season.

8. (10) SEMINOLE RIDGE (2-0)
After a week off, the Hawks defense will be tested against the high-scoring Gators, who have been impressive on the ground. Seminole Ridge has allowed just one score in its first two games.

9. (10) CARDINAL NEWMAN (3-0)
Running back Chris D’Or continues to impress with 239 yards and three scores last week.

10. (9) WELLINGTON (2-1)
Even though standout running back/safety Mark Antony-Richards was bottled up for most of the game offensively, the Wolverines pulled out a 14-8 win over Park Vista. Next: at Palm Beach Central
