Broward football Top 10

- — David Furones

In the post-Week 3 installment of the Broward County high school football top 10 we see … no movement. Yes, some teams won and some teams lost, but no results were convincing enough to demand a change in the rankings. McArthur (3-0) is strengthening its on-the-bubble status with a District 15-7A win against West Broward.

Teams are listed with their current ranking, previous ranking and record. All games are Friday at 7 p.m. unless noted.

1. (1) ST. THOMAS AQUINAS (3-0)

The Raiders mauled significantly undermanned Flanagan 62-0 and showed the many ways they can handle opponents in all three phases of the game.

Next: at Stranahan

2. (2) DEERFIELD BEACH (3-0)

The Bucks spoiled ex-Coconut Creek coach Kareem Reid’s return to Broward County with a big second half to win 40-16.

Next: vs. Blanche Ely, Saturday, 7 p.m.

3. (3) AMERICAN HERITAGE (2-1)

The Lions toppled Blanche Ely 38-0. After splitting two competitive matchups to start, they were as convincing as they should be against the Tigers.

5. (5) CARDINAL GIBBONS (1-2)

The Chiefs got in the win column and handled business against Dillard, 34-12. Now they look to duplicate that effort in their first district bout.

Next: vs. Miami Jackson

The Sharks cruised past Homestead Everglades Prep 52-14 and maintain their hold on the No. 6 spot. Expect more of the same this Friday.

The Colonels were idle and now get prepared for a big early-season tilt in District 12-8A.

The Panthers don’t drop for losing to state contending Cardinal Gibbons. Other loss was against Miami power Booker T. Washington and, besides, they played No. 10 Western and beat the Wildcats.

The Wildcats took care of Hallandale 24-8 and now get started in the district. Next: at Everglades
