New medical pot dispensary opens in Deerfield
Medical marijuana company Curaleaf has opened a dispensary in Deerfield Beach, becoming the second such business to open in the city.
The store, at 148 N. Federal Highway, had a “soft opening” on Friday and is now fully open for business, a spokeswoman said. It is Curaleaf ’s first store in Broward County.
Curaleaf now has four dispensaries in South Florida. The company previously opened one at 1125 N. Dixie Highway, Suite C, in Lake Worth, and two in Miami: at 19000 SW 192nd St. and 9002 Dadeland Blvd.
Massachusetts-based Curaleaf — formerly PalliaTech — has a total of 26 dispensaries in 10 states and operates 10 cultivation sites and nine processing sites. The company plans to open more stores throughout South Florida and the state, according to Michael Costa, dispensary operations manager for Curaleaf.
Medical marijuana dispensaries are beginning to grow in South Florida as more companies want to locate in the heavily populated metro area. In recent months, Trulieve opened a store in Miami, Knox Medical in Lake Worth and Surterra Wellness Center in Miami Beach.
Jacksonville-based VidaCann opened a medical marijuana dispensary at 1101 S. Powerline Road, Suite 104, in early September.
More than 126,000 Florida residents are qualified to purchase medical marijuana, according to the Florida Department of Health’s Office of Medical Marijuana Use.
Curaleaf ’s store hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday to Friday; 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday; and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday.
