Over 3,000 jobs will be available at ‘mega’ fair

The mega job fairs are back. With thousands of job openings and fewer unemployed workers in South Florida, some companies are turning to job fairs to find talent.

On Wednesday, more than 3,000 jobs will be available at a fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the BB&T Center, 1 Panther Parkway in Sunrise.

Employers scheduled to participat­e include: direct mail company Wilen Direct; the city of Sunrise; Colonial Life insurance; Riverside Hotel; concrete company Ozinga South Florida; Gulfstream Park Racing and Casino; RaceTrac; El Dorado Furniture; Norwegian Cruise Line; Hoerbiger manufactur­ing; Florida Panthers; Florida Department of Health; Sawgrass Mills mall, City Furniture and the Miami Dolphins, according to organizer Job News USA.

There are a wide variety of jobs available, including IT help desk support, bus drivers, cooks and servers, sales, security officers, bartenders, decorators, cruise consultant­s, claims coder, manufactur­ing engineer, box office and event staff, delivery drivers and warehouse workers.

Tiffany Cordeschi, special events coordinato­r for Job News USA, reminds job-seekers to research companies of interest participat­ing in the job fair and tailor resumes to those employers. She suggests rehearsing answers to typical questions and considerin­g questions you may want to ask the recruiter.
