Allen, Bills beat odds, crush Vikings

Bills rookie Josh Allen played with the poise of a seasoned quarterbac­k, accounting for three touchdowns in his first road start in the NFL in a stunning 27-6 upset of the Vikings on Sunday.

The Vikings (1-1-1) were 161⁄2-point favorites, allowing the Bills (1-2) to become only the sixth such underdog to win in the NFL’s last 81 games with point spreads that big.

Saints 43, Falcons 37: Drew Brees’ 1-yard run capped an 80-yard touchdown drive to open overtime to lift the Saints. Brees passed for 396 yards and three touchdowns, ran for two scores and set the NFL record for career completion­s with his 6,301st, passing Brett Favre. Chiefs 38, 49ers 27: After winning his first three starts all away from Arrowhead Stadium, Patrick Mahomes finally made his regularsea­son home debut and torched the 49ers for 314 yards and three touchdowns. Mahomes’ 13 touchdown passes are the NFL record in the first three weeks of a season. Panthers 31, Bengals 21: Cam Newton threw for two touchdowns and ran for two, while Christian McCaffrey racked up a career-high 184 yards rushing.

Eagles 20, Colts 16: Carson Wentz threw for a touchdown on his first drive in nine months, and the Eagles got stops on Andrew Luck twice in the final 90 seconds. Dolphins 28, Raiders 20: Receiver Albert Wilson threw a 52-yard touchdown pass to put the Dolphins ahead in the fourth quarter, then turned a short reception into a 74-yard score that sealed it. Redskins 31, Packers 17: Adrian Peterson ran for 120 yards and a pair of 2-yard scores, and Alex Smith threw two touchdown passes for the Redskins. Ravens 27, Broncos 14: Joe Flacco picked apart the Broncos’ depleted defense for 277 yards and a touchdown, and the Ravens twice stopped drives inside their 15 in the fourth quarter.

Seahawks 24, Cowboys 13: Russell Wilson threw for two touchdowns in the first half, Chris Carson added a 5-yard scoring run in early in the fourth quarter, and the Seahawks avoided an 0-3 start. Titans 9, Jaguars 6: Marcus Mariota came off the bench and directed three scoring drives after Blaine Gabbert was knocked out of the game in the first quarter with a concussion.

Giants 27, Texans 22: Eli Manning threw for 297 yards and two touchdowns, and rookie Saquon Barkley added 82 yards and a score.

Bears 16, Cardinals 14: Cody Parkey kicked his third field goal of the game, a 43-yarder with 4:31 remaining, to lift the Bears in a game they trailed 14-0.

Rams 35, Chargers 23: Jared Goff passed for 354 yards and three touchdowns, and Todd Gurley rushed for 105 yards and another score, leading the Rams over the Chargers in their first meeting since their relocation­s to Los Angeles. Patriots at Lions: Wide receiver Josh Gordon was inactive against the Lions, delaying his debut with the Patriots. Gordon was listed as questionab­le with a hamstring injury. He was limited in practice after being acquired from the Browns.
