Critics aside, Gase plans to keep 4 QBs

- By Safid Deen

DAVIE — Injuries may be slowly accumulating for the Miami Dolphins, but don’t expect coach Adam Gase to dissolve his quarterback room just yet.

Gase has received some criticism for keeping four quarterbacks on his 53-man roster.

But he has no intention at the moment of releasing former backup David Fales or rookie Luke Falk to fill a need at another position.

“It just is what it is,” Gase said with a smile after Friday’s practice before Sunday’s game against the Patriots.

“I know nobody likes it, but I do.”

Brock Osweiler, who has yet to appear in a game this season, has been active to serve as Ryan Tannehill’s backup through the first three games.

Fales, who was played in two of seven games he was active for last season, and Falk, who was claimed off waivers, have both been inactive for each game this season.

The Dolphins learned earlier this week it will lose defensive end William Hayes for the season after he suffered an ACL tear against the Raiders last week.

Defensive end Andre Branch (knee), linebacker Chase Allen (foot) and tight end A.J. Derby (foot) haven’t practiced all week, and none of them will play against the Patriots.

The Dolphins promoted defensive end Jonathan Woodard from the practice squad and signed former Redskins linebacker Martrell Spaight this week.

Gase praised former FSU and Buffalo Bills tight end Nick O’Leary, who was added to the practice squad last week, but did not indicate if he would be promoted to the 53-man roster.

Miami has five players on injured reserve and three players out for the season (Hayes, tight end MarQueis Gray and left guard Josh Sitton). Linebacker Mike Hull (knee) and center Jake Brendel (calf ) could possibly return this season after sitting out the first eight weeks of the season.

Injury report: Five Dolphins players are questionable to play in Sunday’s game against the Patriots.

Wake (knee), safety Reshad Jones (shoulder), defensive Davon Godchaux (ankle), offensive tackle Sam Young (shoulder) and wide receiver DeVante Parker (quadricep) were listed as questionable ion Friday’s injury report.

Each player was a full participant in Friday’s practice, except for Parker, who was limited and appeared on the injury report for the first time this week.
