battle between two undefeated and highly ranked schools turned into a second-half blowout for University School as the Sharks defeated visiting American Heritage-Delray 50-14 Friday in a non-district game in Davie.
The 6-0 Sharks, ranked No. 1 in the state in Class 4A, scored 35 second-half points to put the game well out of reach. Three players scored multiple touchdowns for University School and quarterback Nick Vattiato threw for four touchdowns.
Two of Vattiato’s scoring tosses went to Josh Sanguinetti, who also had an interception. Sanguinetti had the two catches on the night for 40 yards.
Kenneth McIntosh rushed for 139 yards and two touchdowns. His longest run came on a 78-yard scoring run that put the Sharks up 22-0 with 7:26 left in the third quarter. Michael Hurt also rushed for 115 yards.
Zay Flowers also scored twice for the Sharks, once on a 25-yard pass from Vattiato and on a 44-yard interception.
Vattiato finished with 10 completions on 21 attempts for 182 yards with one interception
The Stallions (5-1), who came into the contest ranked second in Class 3A, were led by quarterback Zach Bohannon who was 12 of 24 for 83 yards with a touchdown and an interception. Tim Dwyer
Richardson, Dwyer pummel Wellington
Dwyer senior quarterback Gio Richardson passed for three touchdowns in the first half and the Panthers went on the road and cruised past visiting Wellington 55-7 in a non-district contest in Palm Beach Gardens.
With the teams locked in a 7-7 tie, the momentum turned after running back Reggie Gadson raced down the sideline for a 51-yard touchdown to give the Panthers a 13-7 advantage with three seconds left in the first quarter.
The Panthers (6-1) took control of the contest in the second quarter. Cedric Tucker's 47-yard touchdown run was negated due to a penalty, but the Panthers offense struck once again. Richardson fired a 37-yard pass over the middle to Jamari Dezard for a score to push the lead to 20-7.
The Panthers pulled away late in the second quarter. Gadson had a 40-yard run down the sideline into Wolverines territory. On the next play, Richardson connected with Ernest Blackshear on a screen pass for a 21-yard catch and run for a score to extend the lead to 27-7 with 3:28 left in the first half.
The Wolverines (4-3) reached the Panthers’ 10-yard line on the next drive, but they were called for two penalties and Colby Dempsey recorded an interception. Alex Kushel
Pahokee’s Williams grinds up Palm Beach Gardens
Lavonski Williams ran for 228 yards and a careerhigh four touchdowns to lead the Pahokee Blue DevA ils to a 26-6 victory against the host Palm Beach Gardens Gators.
Williams opened up the scoring with 7:10 to go in the first quarter with a 17-yard touchdown run, which capped off a sevenplay, 66-yard drive.
That gave Pahokee (4-2) a 6-0 lead and the Blue Devils were never threatened.

Atlantic falls behind, then routs Santaluces
Host Atlantic survived a scare and scored 37 unanswered points for a 37-7 District 10-8A victory over Santaluces in Delray Beach.
Atlantic (6-0, 3-0), the top-ranked team in Palm Beach, trailed 7-0 for just the second time this season after Santaluces (4-3, 3-1) took the opening kickoff and marched 88 yards in 14 plays for the score.
The Chiefs’ Justin Ramonvill scored on a 1-yard plunge to cap the eightminute drive.
The Eagles knotted the game at 7-7 with 3:07 remaining in the first half on a 28-yard scoring toss from Kalani Ilimaleota to Marquis Lyon, which capped a 59-yard drive.
The second half was all Eagles as they broke a 7-7 deadlock and took lead for good on the first of two scoring runs by Montahj Joseph.
His TD run from 12 yards out made it 14-7. Joseph, who had 14 carries for 80 yards, extended the lead to 21-7 on a 17-yard run and after a safety pushed the advantage to 23-7, the Eagles put the game away on scoring runs of 11 and 1 yards by Corey Wyatt in the final six minutes of the contest.
“We had some kids that sat out the first quarter,” said Atlantic coach TJ Jackson. “We have to learn to play as a team and they came together and played as a team. They bonded after halftime and did it for Mason [Thomas].”
Thomas, 7, who was born with arthrogryposis multiplex congenita, a disease resulting in decreased flexibility of the joints, was given a handoff by Eagles’ Ilimaleota and scored a touchdown during halftime. He was mobbed by both teams after the score and led the team in chants during and after the game. Gary Curreri
