DAVIE Dolphins starting left tackle Laremy Tunsil, who entered concussion protocol earlier this week, participated in practice on Wednesday.

Tunsil’s participation is an encouraging sign for him and Miami’s offensive line heading into Sunday’s Week 6 matchup against the Chicago Bears in Hard Rock Stadium.

The Dolphins will continue to take a daily approach evaluating Tunsil.

“He’s still in the protocol and still going through the steps,” coach Adam Gase said after practice.

Tunsil was being evaluated for a concussion suffered during last Sunday’s loss to the Bengals in Cincinnati.

Both of Miami’s starting defensive ends did not practice Wednesday, but Gase offered encouraging news.

Defensive end Cameron Wake, who did not travel to Cincinnati with the Dolphins, is closer to returning to practice. He did not practice at all last week while dealing with a knee injury.

“I think we’re on track,” Gase said of Wake.

“I don’t think he’s far off. He wasn’t going to do anything on the field [Wednesday], but he’s working on getting his body right inside.”

Robert Quinn, who has started in all five of Miami’s games this season, simply sat out with a veteran rest day.

Gase said he originally planned to get Quinn a rest day in the first month of the season, but injuries to other defensive ends on the roster prevented it.

Cornerback Bobby McCain (knee) did not practice with teammates, but was seen doing some individual work on the sidelines during practice. McCain was also doing some individual work on the field before the Bengals game Sunday.

Starting safety T.J. McDonald, who played against the Bengals, also did not practice Wednesday with a foot injury. The injury also kept him limited in practice last week.

Two Dolphins offensive starters, who have missed significant time due to injuries, returned to practice in limited fashion.

Bengals game with a quadriceps injury, was seen working out with his position group.

He has been inactive in four of five Dolphins games this season. His only appearance this season came against Oakland in Week 3, after recovering from a broken middle finger suffered during the preseason.

“He felt good so we’re progress him to [Wednesday], trying to where he doesn’t have any setbacks,” Gase said of Parker.

A.J. Derby, Miami’s starting tight end before he suffered a foot injury against the Raiders in Week 3, practiced for the first time since being injured.

Receiver/kick returner Jakeem Grant was limited in practice, dealing with a shoulder injury suffered on the first kickoff of the game against the Bengals. Linebacker Chase Allen (foot) and defensive end Andre Branch (knee) were also limited.

Dolphins players who were full participants yet listed on the injury report Wednesday: Quarterback Ryan Tannehill (right shoulder), safety Reshad Jones (shoulder) and receiver Albert Wilson (abdomen).
