Top guitarists from a variety of places on the rock ‘n’ roll spectrum will begin the 2019 Experience Hendrix Tour on March 3 at the Pompano Beach Amphitheater, led by Joe Satriani, Dave Mustaine, Jonny Lang, Dweezil Zappa and Taj Mahal.
Tickets will cost $45.50-$81 and go on sale 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 19, at AXS.com. Advance tickets are scheduled to go on sale 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 16, with the promo code JIMI2019. For more information, visit ExperienceHendrixTour.com.
The 30-city annual tour will gather the musicians to offer new interpretations of Hendrix’s legendary songs in concerts that typically run more than three hours.
Other performers on the tour include Jimi Hendrix bandmate Billy Cox, Eric Johnson, Los Lobos’ David Hidalgo and Cesar Rosas, the Isley Brothers’ Ernie Isley, Doug Pinnick and drummers Chris Layton and Kenny Aronoff.
The 2019 Experience Hendrix Tour announcement dovetails with the Nov. 9 release of the deluxe 50th anniversary edition of the Hendrix masterpiece “Electric Ladyland.”
The set will be available in a three-CD package or on six LPs, with a new 5.1 surround sound mix of the album by Hendrix’s original engineer, Eddie Kramer. The package also includes a collection of demos and outtakes titled “Electric Ladyland: The Early Takes,” “Jimi Hendrix Experience: Live at the Hollywood Bowl 9⁄14/68” and a Blu-ray disc of the feature-length documentary “At Last … The Beginning: The Making of Electric Ladyland.”
Every pair of tickets purchased online for many Experience Hendrix Tour dates will come with a CD copy of “Both Sides of the Sky,” the third in a trilogy of albums of unissued studio recordings from the Hendrix archive.
