Lucky’s Market coming to Miami

- By Doreen Christensen South Florida Sun Sentinel

Lucky’s Market is bringing the party to Miami.

The Boulder, Colo., affordable organic grocer, which serves craft beer and wine to customers as they shop, will open its first location in the Magic City at 12500 SW 88th St., in Kendall in the spring of 2019, according to commercial real estate brokerage firm RKF.

An exact date was not given for the opening for the 23,000-square-foot space that will occupy a corner in the Shops of Kendall plaza.

Lucky’s concept is a cross between a brewery, farmers’ market, and the best of several grocery chains. It has a festive vibe, and encourages customers to sip, shop and stroll while jamming to live or recorded classic rock.

In July, the grocer announced it was opening stores at 150 S. Compass Way in Dania Beach and at 3350 N. University Drive in Cooper City. A Boca Raton store will open at the new Uptown Boca Raton plaza under construction at Glades Road and 95th Avenue South. The Dania Beach and Boca Raton stores are set to open in the summer, with Cooper City opening in the fall.

There are stores in Plantation, Oakland Park and Coral Springs.

The chain also plans to open stores in Orlando, Winter Park and nine other Florida cities over the next 24 months, the company said.

The hip chain has more than 28 stores nationally and will open at least 20 more this year, including in Montana, Ohio and Colorado, the company said.

The three-tower, $60 million Smart Brickell project is expected to break ground by the end of the year at 229 SW Ninth St. in Miami. Two 24-floor towers will each have 50 hotel rooms and 50 condos. The third tower will have 50 hotel rooms and 70 condos in a 26-story building.
